  10. I have recently purchased the aforementioned transceiver.  I have had no
  11. problems to speak of and enjoy the rig thoroughly. I would like to
  12. submit the following mod for the rig.  Note that implementation on this
  13. mod is at the rig owner's risk and may violate warranties.  Here is a
  14. description of the mod:

  16. o Remove the bottom cover (8 screws: 4 underneath, 2 on each side)
  17. o Remove the plastic rear panel.  (Just a cosmetic piece)
  18. o Remove the rear metal panel.  (So many screws)
  19. o Loosen the "hinge" screws on the front bottom.  There are 4 of them.
  20. o Lift the now loose card tray to expose to inner circuit boards.  Be
  21.   careful!  There are two power supply lines that need to be disconnected.
  22.   (Remember to reconnect them on assembly.)  (one is the control board,
  23.   the other the one we want.)  Note that the board we will mod is the same
  24.   one that has the switch that allows changing the tuning dial from
  25.   5kHz/rev to 10kHz/rev.
  26. o Change the position of switch S01.  The rig will now transmit from 1.5
  27.   to 29.99999 MHz.
  28. o Reverse the disassembly procedure.

  30. Well that's it.  You are now ready for any band addition that may come
  31. our way.  If you have problems, reply; I'll try to answer your
  32. questions.

  40.  This modification is intended for use with the Yaesu FT767GX when equipped
  41.  with the optional 2 Meter module.
  42.  
  43.  It appears that Yaesu has the 2 Meter module default to Japanese 2M freqs
  44.  (144.000-145.9999MHz).  After using the backup switch to reset memories on 
  45.  the 767, the 2M module will also reset to default.
  46.  
  47.  To restore full US 2M band coverage (144.0000-147.9999MHz), follow this
  48.  procedure:

  50.  1) place "backup" switch on rear panel to OFF position
  51.  2) power OFF radio
  52.  3) hold down "2" key and power ON radio
  53.  4) return backup switch to ON position
  54.  
  55.  Although I can't imagine that you could possibly break your radio with this
  56.  mod, standard disclaimers for radio modifications apply.
